Why We Said No to Monthly Subscriptions
Reacheal costs $249. No monthly fee. Ever. Heres why we made that choice — and why we think its the right one for families.
When we started designing Reacheal, we had a choice: follow the established path of hardware + recurring subscription, or do something different.
We chose different.
The problem with subscriptions is that they quietly eat away at the true cost of a product over time. A $300 device with a $10/month subscription costs you $420 over three years. Year five? $600. The hardware still works perfectly fine, but youre paying and paying.
For a family product, this felt wrong. Families are price-sensitive in a different way than individual consumers. Youre not just buying for yourself — youre committing to an ongoing cost that comes out of the household budget every single month.
So we priced Reacheal at $249 with zero ongoing costs. The hardware does everything it needs to do without ever requiring you to pay again. If you want extra features down the road, well offer optional add-ons — but the core experience is yours forever.
